Thankful Thursday...

Wow!!! I sat here trying to think about what to be thankful for this week and it was hard. I have been very sick. Almost got put in the hospital. But here I am so I am going to start with that...

1- God kept me from going to the hospital and is healing my body a little more everyday.
2- Great family and friends that are praying for me and my family while I am sick.
3- Brian, He has done EVERYTHING around here for the past 5 days. (I think he is going to pull his hair out and appreciates me more now, because he knows what I do everyday. He readily admits he could NOT do my job)

So I am making this short because I am suppose to be resting.... This resting stuff is getting boring, especially when I am starting to feel better. UGGHHHH!!!

Neigborhood bullies

Ben and Brenna were outside playing the other day with some kids in our neighborhood. Brian was sitting in the rocking chair keeping an eye on them. He heard one little girl, Taylor, ask Ben how old is your sister? Ben said "Free" (three). The little girl, repeated back to him Three. Ben said, that is what I said "Free" She said no you said "Free" it is "Three". Well she kept on and Ben got aggrivated and looked at Brenna and said to her very matter of factly, "Brenna, Kick her!" Well Brenna being who she is strutted up to her and kicked her in the shin as hard as she could. The little girl looked at Brenna and could not believe she did it. Meanwhile, Brian told me what happened and we had to talk to them, but at the same time I was laughing. Those are my kiddos... The neighborhood bullies... Gotta love them.

Brenna's new haircut

I finally decided to give Brenna a big girl hair cut. I loved her long hair but it was so curly that is just ended up in a big tangle by the end of the day. She really looked forward to today and was so excited to get it done. I, however, was very nervous that I was making the right decision. When she first started cutting I think my heart dropped because it seemed so short. But when she was done I loved it. More importantly, Brenna adores it. She has been walking around here playing with her hair and looking in the mirror. She doesn't want to go outside because the wind will mess it up and she doesn't want to take a bath and get it wet because it will get messed up. She is getting a bath tonight whether she wants to or not so we shall see how that goes. Her hair is straight in the picture because the hair dresser wanted to see what it looked like like that. It is still very curly when it is not fixed that way. So don't worry I did not cut all her beautiful curls out.... They are still there, I promise.

My Valentine's Date

Brian and I decided to start a new tradition this year. We wanted to take the kids out for a Valentine's dinner all their own. So Brian took Brenna on a "Date" to AppleBees last night and I to Ben to Yokoso Japanese Steak House. It was a success. Brenna loved having that one on one time with her daddy and Ben thought he was hot stuff going out to a nice resteraunt with me. Ben and I shared a Hibachi shrimp dinner. On the grill the chef was also cooking steaks and chicken for some of the others at our table. Ben saw the steak and wanted that too. Then he saw the chicken and thought that sounded pretty good too. I had to explain to him that we did not get to eat everything the guy was cooking, just what we ordered. I think he would have prefered steak to go along with his shrimp. Brenna got to enjoy a hot dog and some icecream for dessert with daddy.

Before we left the house I asked Ben if he was ready for his date. He said yes but he wasn't going to kiss me when we got home. I asked him what he meant by that and he said that's what dates do. I said "How do you know what dates do?" He said, "Mom, I watch TV you know!"
Gotta love the stuff he picks up from Nick and Disney channel. Any way this was a great thing to start this year and I am sure we will do it every year from now on.

By the way I lost 2.6 lb last week. So I am starting to see a little more weight than just the pound here and there.

Praisin' Jesus

Brenna, as I always say, is a nut. Yesterday she decided she was not going to take a nap and the whole time she was in her room she was singing several different songs that we sing on Sunday morning. She knows them word for word. Her favorite right now is I will sing of the mercies of the Lord Forever. (she sings it over, and over, and over) Well in the middle of the no nap she said she had to Poop! So as she was sitting on the potty I was putting laundry away. She started singing (very sweetly) "How Great is our God" So I went to check on her and she was singing her little heart out (on the potty) with her hands raised. I guess you are suppose to praise God at all times.....
